VT-Xtreme 10G Repeater

Diablo's VT-Xtreme is designed to provide next generation system designers with a simple and reliable method of achieving 10 Gb/s data rates without requiring changes to their existing hardware infrastructure. Diablo's approach to SerDes design involves understanding the system designer's challenges. Our Advanced Equalization Technology will not only allow channels that are designed for 1Gb/s operation to operate an order of magnitude faster (10X), but it also provides designers with an intuitive feature-set that will allow for margin analysis, power optimization, and process variation compensation. High-Speed serial interfaces are revolutionizing the way Server/Storage systems are built, and Diablo's advanced CMOS SerDes technology will accelerate the movement.

Diablo's Advanced Equalization Technology is designed to:

  • Provide fully adaptive, user-friendly link configuration that will automatically optimize the link signalling to achieve target BER performance and minimize power consumption.

  • Provide built-in BERT capability, where signaling margin and link quality/status can be obtained in real-time.

In order to maximize interoperability and compliance with emerging standards, the VT-Xtreme product relies on generic NRZ or binary signalling, and requires no special feedback channels to sync transmit equalization with receive equalization. Furthermore, Diablo's unique architecture allows for fully adaptive equalization schemes with a no increase in die area and power consumption, which will significantly improve scalability and manufacturability of next generation products.

VT-Xtreme

VT-Xtreme is a single channel repeater with advanced built-in diagnostics. The following is a short list of features that are available with the first revision of the VT-Xtreme I:

  • 1:1 repeater, 1:64 DMUX modes

  • Fully Adaptive Non-Linear Receive Equalization

  • Adaptive/Programmable Transmit Equalization

  • Automatic DC-Offset compensation

  • Built-in BER test capability

  • Built-in Digital and Analog test features for full characterization

  • Full CDR capability w/ flexible reference clock input

  • Logic Analyzer interface and standard I2C interface

  • 0.13u Generic CMOS for easy integration
